Umeå does the job on northern Öland

Good, proper equipment is important in all professions. And the right footwear is often one of the most important items. This is especially true for carpenters, who are constantly on the move, both high and low. Ola Karlsson, a carpenter on northern Öland for the past 20 years, is one of those who makes sure he always has good, proper products. He is fully booked for the next 1.5 years and basically cannot afford to get sick if he is to keep to his tight schedule. And one of the keys to being able to work hard is having the right shoes on your feet.

"I have tried most types of shoes for work, but didn't find the right ones until I tried Arbesko'sUmeå series. I have to say, they were something else. They fit fantastically, provide good support on ladders, roofs and floors, and have a toe cap that protects the shoe when working at low heights, which many other shoes don't have. That's what I like about Arbesko shoes.”

A favorite for every season

-  Now in the summer, I use the Umeå 939. It's made of textile and is breathable, but doesn't let in sawdust and other debris. In autumn and spring, I wear the Umeå 945, which is made entirely of leather, quite warm and waterproof, which is good here in northern Öland. It can be quite wet because we don't get much snow. But still, I almost long for winter. I've bought another pair of boots, Umeå 949, which fit like a glove. They're perfect here on Öland in winter. They're warm enough when it's around zero and they're perfect for where I work.

The next generation of carpenters

His son Viktor, 13, wants to learn carpentry from scratch and often helps out when the opportunity arises. He too had been unable to find any shoes he liked until he tried on the Umeå 939.

‘He hardly takes them off when he goes to bed. That's how happy he is with them. So we just had to buy a pair,’ concludes Ola.
